The fallout from AB InBev's purchase of Wicked Weed continues. Late afternoon on May 9th, Wicked Weed posted the following on their Facebook page:
The cancellation will impact Asheville's economy and the businesses there who would most likely lose out on sales from visitors who were coming to the festival. Tax revenue would be lost as well.
One of the charities the festival was to support, Eblen Charities, is a non-profit organization whose outreach supports counties of western North Carolina and through its programs has helped thousands of families each year with medical and emergency assistance.
While Wicked Weed is planning on "Evolving" the cancelled festival into a new gathering to raise money for Eblin in September, 2017, but you can support Eblin directly by visiting their donation page.
